Heritage Perth, Ontario
Built on the past.
Building the future.
We are building the finest heritage trades learning centre in Canada — and one of the finest in the world.
Our aim is simple and demanding: to unite the highest standards of craftsmanship with a deep understanding of building science, and to cultivate a new generation of builders capable of restoring and shaping the places we inhabit.
Our Courses & Workshops
Time on Tools,
Work in the World
At The Perth Academy of Building Arts & Science, we believe the only way to truly learn a craft is to practice it — extensively, repeatedly, and in the real world. Our courses and workshops deliver three to five times more time on tools than a typical college experience.
Participants cut, fit, lay, lift, measure, and correct — developing the muscle memory, judgment, and fluency that only come through sustained, hands-on work with real materials.
Instruction is led by working builders and tradespeople — not removed from practice but actively engaged in it.
Participants will have opportunities to work on:
- 01 New timber frame or log buildings
- 02 Careful restoration of historic stone structures
- 03 Real structures with real stakes — not simulations
Perth
is not an accident
Close enough to Ottawa to matter, but distinct enough to think clearly, Perth provides the ideal proving ground for a new kind of learning experience — one rooted in place, in craft, and in the long arc of building things that last.
- Ottawa 1 hour drive
- Montreal 2.5 hours drive
- Toronto 3.5 hours drive
Who We Want
We are looking for people who want to learn deeply and build for real — those drawn to the discipline of craft and the satisfaction of making things that endure.
